Rate Card Magazine Ads

I've sold a few pages of magazine ads since starting work in London and obviously the commission rate on this is pretty good.
Lately tho it is getting a lot harder to convince people that printed magazines are a good way of getting new business.

Do we think that paper ads are a dying breed and if so, why do the newspapers in particular still get alot of ad revenue ? Question

Hi Nick,

I posted the same question on another marketing forum recently.

I only recieved adamant replies that Paper based advertising will never die.

Comments also included the idea that if it was to seriously decrease in volume then this might only increase demand as advertisers strive to be different.

My own opinion is that like a lot of things (e.g. sending most of our manufacturing to China from UK) if paper based media turns out to be less cost effective than using newer technologies then the trend will continue in so far as internet and digital media taking the bigger piece of ad revenue.

I cant believe that big newspaper companies will ignore cheaper ways of distributing the same news to the same people. They already have extensive websites. All we need is tecnology that is viable enough to put all and any print information onto a handheld device that really works.

Die hard paper lovers wil be ignorted by these companies if they are in the minority. ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY ! lol.

My opinions might be one-sided.
